The year 2018 marked the tenth anniversary of the campaign against breast cancer, an awareness-raising campaign initiated and organized by YWCA. This year, the ambassador of the cause against breast cancer was the soprano Mrs. Ermonela Jaho. ABI is one of supporters of the campaign, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, as a permanent partner of YWCA.
On 20 March 2018, YWCA Albania held an activity in the National History Museum in the name of the fight against breast cancer to mark the tenth anniversary. Ermonela Jaho hosted the event, in the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Mrs. Ogerta Manastirliu, Ambassador Donald Lu, the Austrian Ambassador, and representatives of various international organizations and of civil society. The difficulties and discrimination Albanian women face because of breast cancer were highlighted at the meeting. Ambassador Lu said that the USA will continue to support Albanian society’s efforts in fighting this illness. ABI Lending Director, Mrs. Anila Daci, and Retail Unit Director, Mr. Emis Cerava, attended the activity.
The initiative has received great media support, both on national television channels, such as Top Media, and Voice of America, and it has been widely promoted in Tirana by CTL [IW1] and Tirana International Airport.
ABI has set up a special account for donations for the campaign.
