Job Description:
The main objective of this role is to develop reports and perform analysis related to credit risk and capital adequacy for the Bank’s Management, the Bank of Albania, and other parties. It includes monitoring risk limits as outlined in the Bank’s Risk Strategy for credit risk (including counterparty risk) and capital adequacy; calculating provisions for credit risk; verifying and analyzing Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) to determine regulatory capital adequacy.
All of the above objectives must be achieved in compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements regarding credit risk and capital adequacy.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepares and analyzes daily, monthly, and quarterly credit risk reports for individual and business loans in accordance with internal policies/procedures and requests from Senior Management, CRO, and Deputy CRO.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of credit risk and capital adequacy data required by the Bank of Albania or other parties. Ensures timely submission of these reports within the defined deadlines.
- Ensures a comprehensive assessment of credit risk regarding the quality of the Bank’s credit portfolio, credit processes, risk concentrations, and credit risk management practices by assessing, monitoring, and reporting on the credit portfolio. This includes ongoing monitoring of credit risk and credit tests to keep under review the credit risk management practices by the Business Lines, their control processes, and portfolio quality. It also includes monitoring credit conditions, follow-up on timely payments of loans, etc.
- Acts as a second line of control to ensure the accuracy and completeness of loans and collaterals data maintained in the core system.
- Ensures correct and accurate provisioning, calculation of cost of risk, reporting, and optimization according to the Bank of Albania regulation and IFRS 9 standards.
- Responsible for verifying and analyzing RWA for regulatory capital adequacy, and analyzing trends and variances. Ensures accuracy and compliance with the regulatory requirements.
- Prepares reports for non-performing loans according to IFRS 9 guidelines.
- Prepares monitoring reports on timely loan payments.
- Ensures timely preparation and submission for approval of credit portfolio classification according to Bank of Albania regulations and IFRS 9 standards.
- Monitors credit portfolio classification by economic sectors, credit limits, portfolio quality etc.
- Prepares and analyzes Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for recovery systems (Retail and Corporate).
- Ensures the timely preparation of periodic or ad-hoc reports and analyses regarding the loan portfolio, including those related to credit risk indicators and capital adequacy, according to the requirements of the Bank’s Senior Management, CRO, and Deputy CRO.
- Ensures the necessary controls and establishes additional controls as a second line of control over the data maintenance process in the Bank’s operational system related to the credit portfolio and collaterals, maintained by Loan Administration.
- Maintains Bank procedures and process flows under the responsibility of this function, and contributes to the maintenance of policies and procedures related to this function, as a formal actor in such documents.
- Undertakes designated projects required for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of established processes for managing and monitoring credit risk and capital adequacy, according to the instructions of the CRO and Executive Management or SAPC.

- Keeps the CRO and Deputy CRO informed continuously and in a timely manner on the results of credit risk monitoring (including counterparty credit risk), as well as the capital adequacy of the Bank.
- Reports to Senior Management on a monthly basis or more frequently (as required) on the performance of on-time payments of the credit portfolio.
Immediately reports to Senior Management any breach of limits as defined in the Bank’s Risk Strategy regarding credit risk indicators (including counterparty risk), capital adequacy, or asset growth limits as per the Annual Risk Strategy. - Coordinates the work and drafting of the ICAAP report, including coordination with other functions within the Risk Division and with other contributors necessary to provide required inputs for the report.
- Acts as the Secretary of SAPC, maintains the SAPC regulation, submits formal proposals for approval to the Committee, ensures proper historical record of all SAPC approvals of proposals from other functions, and keeps minutes of every SAPC meeting held, in accordance with the related regulations. Ensures follow-up of the decisions made by the Committee.
Interacts with other functions within the Risk Division in line with the Division’s responsibilities toward the sound management of credit, financial, and operational risks of the Bank. - Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on matters related to credit risk management and capital adequacy at the organizational level, and ensures effective communication/cooperation with all relevant units of the Bank involved in managing these risks.
- Takes necessary actions to maintain and communicate the information managed by the department under his/her direction, ensuring the protection of Bank’s confidentiality at all times.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CRO, Deputy CRO, and/or the Senior Management of the Bank, in line with the needs arising from the Bank’s activities and operations, as well as regulatory requirements or other matters.
Formal criteria:
- University degree in Economics, Finance-Banking, Risk Management or similar fields;
- Professional certifications (FRM, PRM, CFA, Risk Governance, etc.) are an advantage.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Over 5 years of work experience, in similar roles within the Banking System.
- Experience in leadership roles, preferably in the field of Risk Management or Risk Reporting.
- Previous work experience in database processors, especially in data processing.
- Good knowledge of processes and controls for credit risk management, capital adequacy, and other risks of the Bank.
- Possess information on the functionality and characteristics of banking products, as well as basic knowledge of the use of the Central Banking System (CBS).
- Knowledge of applicable banking legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of best practices and BASEL directives/guidelines, as well as EBA directives and guidelines.
- Developed analytical skills and high skills in compiling reports.
- Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel, using advanced functions and integrating other applications of the Microsoft Office suite such as Microsoft Access.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Very good collaboration skills.
